About Heady

Heady architects purchase experiences in store, online, and through AI agents. We help brands sell goods and services to humans — in person and online — and increasingly, to and through the agents now shopping on their behalf. Our expertise spans everything that goes into making a purchase happen: the software and infrastructure behind it, the experience enabling it, and the loyalty that follows it. Learn more about us at Heady.io.

We’re a relationship-driven, craft-focused, and people-first company. Our clients trust us not just to execute, but to think alongside them—and we take that responsibility seriously. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Director of Client Services to help us strengthen client partnerships, grow existing accounts, and bring consistency to how we manage our professional relationships.

About the Role

You will own growth end-to-end and run it as a measurable system: the growth model, pipeline, demand engine, sales process, commercial operating cadence, and the team required to deliver against our growth ambitions. Today that responsibility sits across the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to build the infrastructure, a consistent operating rhythm, and a model that works backward from the target - you will be accountable for creating predictable, compounding revenue growth.

This is a player-coach role. You will build the capabilities and team required to scale growth over time, while remaining directly involved in generating pipeline and moving opportunities through the sales process - from prospecting and qualification through solution development, proposal, negotiation, and close. You’ll work alongside leadership and account teams where their expertise and relationships matter, but you will own the discipline, momentum, and accountability required to turn opportunities into revenue.

Over time, your leverage will increasingly come from the growth system and team you build, but success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable building the engine and driving it.

What You'll Own

The growth model - worked backward from the annual goal. Translate revenue targets into what they require up-funnel: qualified opportunities, pipeline coverage, and leads, based on real close rates, deal sizes, and sales-cycle lengths. Build a forecasting model leadership can plan against, and own the answer to where revenue comes from (existing clients vs. net-new).

Pipeline and forecasting. Stand up real pipeline management in the CRM: agreed stage definitions, entry and exit criteria, coverage ratios, conversion and velocity metrics, and slippage tracking. Run a disciplined commercial cadence with the leadership team and deliver reliable forecasts.

Demand generation. Own a repeatable inbound and outbound engine: outbound prospecting against target accounts, warm-contact nurture, and reactivation of dormant clients.  Bring marketing and partner alliances under a growth mandate and hold it accountable to pipeline. Use thought leadership and case studies as commercial tools.

Business development and sales. Own the progression of net-new opportunities from initial engagement through qualification and close. Lead discovery, establish the business need and buying process, coordinate the right Heady expertise throughout the pursuit, and maintain momentum through solution development, proposal, negotiation, and conversion. Build a repeatable sales process over time, while remaining personally involved in the opportunities that matter.

Partnerships and channel. Turn the partner ecosystem, including technology platforms and agency partners, into a measurable revenue channel, with playbooks, ownership, and metrics where today it is informal. Develop the relationships, playbooks, ownership, and metrics required to make partnerships a repeatable growth channel rather than an informal source of referrals.

Desired Capabilities

  • Systems thinking. You own the whole funnel, not a single channel, and instrument every stage from demand creation through conversion.
  • Quantitative fluency. You build the funnel model yourself and can defend your assumptions to leadership (coverage ratios, conversion rates, cycle times, unit economics).
  • Builder’s instinct. You ship the pipeline process and operating cadence, and build infrastructure ahead of the revenue that needs it.
  • Commercial instinct.  You know how to turn a conversation into an opportunity and an opportunity into a client.  You can qualify effectively, uncover the real business need, navigate a complex buying process, and create momentum toward a decision.
  • Player-coach mentality. You are comfortable personally creating pipeline and driving deals while building the team, capabilities, and discipline that allow the growth function to scale beyond you.
  • Change leadership. You drive change quickly and raise problems with a proposed solution attached.
  • Executive judgment. You operate at the leadership-team level and earn the confidence of a founder-owner.

Requisite Skills and Experience

Required

  • 10+ years leading business development, growth, strategic partnerships, or consulting sales.
  • A track record building and owning a growth or revenue function (VP of Growth, GM, or Head of GTM) at a company that scaled and a proven ability to generate business through relationships rather than transactional sales.
  • Strong quantitative and modeling ability - you have personally built the funnel math that turns targets into required pipeline and activity.
  • Hands-on command of pipeline systems and revenue operations (e.g., HubSpot and/or Salesforce).
  • Proven experience coaching and enabling commercial teams, not only carrying a personal quota.
  • Executive presence and judgment to operate on a leadership team.
  • You are a Commerce Expert. Deep expertise in digital commerce, with a strong understanding of the platforms, technologies, customer journeys, and operating models that drive modern e-commerce growth, and the commercial trends shaping enterprise retailers and brands.

Strong pluses

  • Exposure to professional services, consulting, or agency economics (project/retainer revenue, utilization, T&M vs. value-based pricing).
  • P&L ownership, pricing strategy, or a move toward outcomes-based pricing.

What makes you a great fit for Heady:

  • Enjoy building systems as much as building relationships.
  • Think strategically before acting tactically.
  • Like creating structure where none exists.
  • Prefer consultative conversations over transactional selling.
  • Can translate ambitious growth goals into practical execution.
  • Are energized by creating opportunities and connecting people.
  • Value long-term relationships over short-term wins.

Compensation & Structure

The base salary range for this role is $175,000–$190,000, depending on experience, with meaningful performance-based incentive compensation tied to growth.

Variable compensation will reward performance across two primary areas:

  • Revenue Growth: Achieving and exceeding annual growth targets, with a particular emphasis on converting new-business opportunities into signed revenue. The plan will include additional upside for performance above target.
  • Qualified Pipeline: Building and maintaining the volume and quality of qualified pipeline required to support Heady’s near and longer-term growth objectives.
