About the Role:

We are seeking a self-motivated Technical Lead with deep expertise in React Native to support the development and launch of a high-performing mobile application for a waste-management client. The product includes real-time routing, GPS functionality, and performance optimization to support truck drivers and operations teams.

This is a freelance role, anticipated for 20 hours/week over 3–6 months, with the potential for continued project work based on performance.

The ideal candidate will guide the technical direction of the mobile application from build through launch. You will collaborate closely with mobile engineers, designers, product managers, and client stakeholders to ensure delivery of a secure, reliable, and scalable application. This role requires strong communication skills, technical leadership, and hands-on React Native expertise.

We’re looking for someone to start immediately and prefer candidates based in the US. ET hours are required. This is a remote-friendly role. There may be opportunities beyond this contract. 

What You’ll Do:

• Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor React Native developers; provide technical guidance, oversight, and code quality enforcement.

• Architecture & Optimization: Architect and optimize the mobile app for performance, scalability, and reliability (including GPS mapping and routing-based functionality).

• Hands-On Development: Support implementation efforts as needed—this is not purely oversight; ability to contribute code is required.

• Project Collaboration: Work with product managers and designers to define technical requirements, feasibility, timelines, and implementation details.

• Code Review & Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and ensure consistent, maintainable code.

• Launch Support: Oversee deployment and app-store release readiness, resolving technical issues as they arise

• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot complex mobile issues and propose practical solutions rooted in performance and stability.

• Client Communication: Collaborate directly with stakeholders, explaining technical recommendations in clear, accessible terms.

• Continuous Improvement: Keep the team aligned with best practices, new technologies, and forward-looking mobile standards.
  
  

Who You Are:

• Required: Strong expertise in React Native mobile development

• Required: Experience leading a mobile engineering team or serving as a technical lead on software projects

• Required: Proven experience launching and deploying mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)

• Experience optimizing mobile apps for performance, stability, and quality

• Experience collaborating with designers, product teams, and client stakeholders

• Excellent communication and documentation skills
